8-Week Preseason Vertical Challenge Terms
Effective October 16, 2026
The short version
The 8-Week Preseason Vertical Challenge is 8 weeks of training with an AME coach, with a call every week. You test your vertical jump at the start and again at the end, on video, the same way both times.
- You jump higher, by any amount we can measure (half an inch): you get four more months of AME 1-on-1 Coaching free.
- You did the work and didn't jump higher: you get a full refund.
- You didn't do the work: no refund.
- You get hurt during the challenge: tell us. A full refund is at our discretion.
That is a refund or free months. It is not a promise that you will jump higher: nobody can promise that, and we don't.
Who runs it
These terms are between you and Connor Barth, doing business as Athlete Made Easy (sole proprietor, Clearwater, Florida). Connor trains every athlete in the challenge himself. These terms sit on top of the Terms of Service, which still apply — including the training-risk section. Where the two disagree about the challenge, these terms win. We may move these terms to a company Connor Barth owns or controls; if we do, your challenge, its guarantee and any free months carry over unchanged.
Who can join
Everyone starts with a call. You book a free 30-minute call first. We look at where your jump is and whether the challenge is a fit, and we may say no. There are 20 spots.
To join, you need to be: 13 or older, with an Athlete Made Easy account; free of any current injury; and able to train in a standard gym (the program uses one).
You need an iPhone. The sessions that count are the ones you log in the Athlete Made Easy app, and the app runs only on iPhone. You also book your calls and send your test videos in it.
Under 18. A parent or guardian signs off by doing two things: linking their account to yours, and paying. They also join your kickoff call. There is nothing else to sign. The parent or guardian who pays is the one agreeing to these terms and to the price. After the kickoff, your parent or guardian is welcome on any of your calls, and we make sure they have the link to each one you book. Every call is a video call at the link in its booking.
The price and paying
Agreed on the call. The price is not on the website. If the challenge is a fit, we tell you the price on the call, in US dollars.
Paid once, on the web. You pay the whole price once, up front, through a payment link we send you on athletemadeeasy.com. Payment is handled by Stripe — never in the iOS app and never through the App Store. We never see or store your full card number. Nothing renews: the challenge is not a subscription.
When it starts
Your 8 weeks start on the day after you pay, unless we agree a later start day with you (up to 14 days after you pay). Your kickoff call and baseline test happen in week 1. They run for 8 weeks in a row, with no pause (see “If you get hurt” below).
What's included
A call every week, by video. 8 calls in all:
- Week 1: the kickoff call and your baseline test.
- Weeks 2 to 7: a weekly check-in call (6 in all). You book each one when it suits you.
- Week 8: your retest and the final review call.
A program built around you, in the Athlete Made Easy app, changed when it needs to be.
Video reviews, answered within 24 hours. Film a jump or a lift and send it in the app, as often as you like. Your coach answers within 24 hours, every day, weekends included — a video sent on Friday evening is answered by Saturday evening.
How your jump is measured
Your vertical is your highest touch minus your standing reach. Your standing reach is measured and filmed first; then you take 3 attempts on video, and the best one counts.
Measured to the nearest half inch. Your touch and your reach are each measured to the nearest half inch, so your vertical is too. Your retest counts as higher when it measures at least half an inch more than your baseline. The same number, or less, is not higher.
Every attempt is all-out. All 3 attempts at each test are your hardest jump, both times. A test that isn't a real max doesn't count, at the start or at the end.
The same way both times. You test in week 1 (your baseline) and again in week 8 (your retest), with the same method and the same setup: the same kind of jump, the same way of marking the touch, and the same wall or rim. Your standing reach is taken the same way both times too, and checked against your baseline reach. Your coach tells you the setup at the kickoff call.
Verified by your coach. Your coach checks every video. Your coach can ask you to retake any test on a call while they watch, and can compare a test with the best jumps you logged in the app in the weeks around it. If a test can't be verified — the touch or the reach can't be seen, the setup changed, or it clearly isn't a real max — you retake it within a week, and the retake is the one that counts. Your coach's call on whether a test counts stands, and you can ask us to look again (see “How the result is decided”).
Doing the work
“Doing the work” means both of these, over the 8 weeks:
- At least 90% of your scheduled sessions done and logged in the Athlete Made Easy app.
- A call attended every week, including the kickoff and the final review. A call moved to another day in the same week still counts.
A session that counts is one you do and log in the app within 7 days of its scheduled day, with its sets filled in. A session finished with its sets skipped, or logged without the work in it, doesn't count, and your coach can set it aside.
Excused sessions. A session only stops counting when your coach changes your program and takes it out — for example, because of an injury. Those sessions are not scheduled any more, so they are not part of the 90%. A session you skip on your own still counts as missed.
Calls we can't hold. A call we cancel or move doesn't count against you. If we can't hold a week's call at all, that week's call is excused.
The app's record of your sessions and our record of your calls are what we go by.
What you get at the end
If your retest is higher than your baseline (at least half an inch more, measured as set out in “How your jump is measured”): you get four more months of AME 1-on-1 Coaching free, starting when the challenge ends. Connor stays your coach for them. That is coaching by message and video in the app:
- Messages. Ask anything. Your coach answers within 24 hours, every day.
- Video reviews. Film a set, a jump or a test and send it, as often as you like. Your coach watches it and tells you what they see.
- Weekly progress check. Every week your coach looks at everything you logged. They make sure you're on track.
- Program changes. Busy week, sore knee, new gym? Your coach changes your program to fit.
- If something hurts. It goes to your coach, who adjusts your training.
The four months do not include the challenge's weekly calls: AME 1-on-1 Coaching has no one-on-one calls. (The weekly group call is free for everyone anyway.) The free months are not paid out in cash. If you already pay for AME 1-on-1 Coaching, the four months are added to it: your next bill moves back four months.
The Terms of Service give paying members of AME 1-on-1 Coaching a free month when an answer is late. That answer guarantee does not apply to the challenge, or to free months the challenge earns: during those, your coach still answers within 24 hours, every day.
Nothing renews on its own. A week before the four months end, we ask you (or the parent who paid) whether you want to keep going on AME 1-on-1 Coaching, at its price then. Nothing is charged unless you say yes. If you say nothing, it ends, and the app, your programs and everything you logged stay free.
If you did the work and your retest is not higher (less than half an inch more, the same, or lower): you get a full refund of what you paid for the challenge, to the card or account you paid with.
If you didn't do the work: no refund, whatever the retest shows. If you don't take the retest at all, there is no gain to count, and you have missed the final review, so there is no refund.
How the result is decided
At the final review call, your coach compares your baseline and retest videos and goes over the app's record with you. You get the result in writing — in the app or by email — within 7 days of that call.
A refund is sent within 7 days of the result, to the card or account you paid with. Your bank may take a few more business days to show it.
Free months are added to your account when the challenge ends, and the app shows when they run until.
If you think we got it wrong, email support@athletemadeeasy.com within 30 days of the result and we will look at the videos and the record again.
If you get hurt
You start with no current injury. If you are hurt when you join, tell us on the call; the challenge waits until you are not.
If you get injured during the challenge, tell your coach or email support@athletemadeeasy.com. We may give you a full refund of what you paid for the challenge, to the card or account you paid with. Whether we do is at our discretion.
Something you can train around is handled in your program. Your coach changes it, and sessions they take out don't count against you (see “Doing the work”).
Cancelling before you start
If you change your mind, email support@athletemadeeasy.com before your start day and you get a full refund. From your start day on, the only refunds are the one under “What you get at the end”, one we choose to give under “If you get hurt”, or one the law requires.
Coaches, not doctors
Connor Barth and Athlete Made Easy's coaches are coaches. They are not doctors, physical therapists or other medical providers. Nothing in the challenge — the calls, the program, the video reviews or anything a coach tells you — is medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
Talk to a doctor before you start, especially if you have a health condition. If something hurts, stop and see one. The training-risk section of the Terms of Service applies to the challenge in full.
Everything else
The Terms of Service cover the rest, including governing law: the laws of the State of Florida, with disputes in the state or federal courts located in Pinellas County, Florida — except where the consumer-protection law of your home jurisdiction says otherwise and can't be waived.
We may run later challenges on different terms. The terms in effect on the day you pay are the ones that apply to your challenge.
